Laurie and Roger met at Cornell, arriving from each coast (Queens / LA) and spent 5 years in the middle, doing graduate work in Pittsburgh, PA. They built a home in the Hudson Valley where Laurie works in sustainability at Bard College and Roger is an ophthalmologist. Daughter Tessa is a rising senior at Red Hook High School and Ethan is back in the ‘Burgh at Carnegie Mellon.
In this episode, Laurie and Roger Husted share their journey to sustainability and what it took for them to build their 3-bedroom, 2300-sq.ft sustainable home in the forest by the lake - solar-powered, with air-source heat pumps, and connected to the Red Hook’s clean energy grid - with electric cars zeroing out their carbon footprint.
